THE tower

Introduction:

Immerse yourself in a unique and romantic retreat, 'The Tower', a recently converted holiday let that promises an extraordinary and secluded stay. Once an integral part of The Works, an old water treatment plant featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs, The Tower breathes new life as an exclusive retreat. This ancillary structure, previously housing a 10,000-gallon water tank, switchgear, and transformer, now serves as a testament to architectural beauty and functionality.

Constructed from reinforced concrete, The Tower retains its original details, including the board-marked concrete with moulded Art-Deco style door and window apertures, adorned with original Crittal windows and doors.

Set within 6 acres of land, you can take leisurely walks and explore the great outdoors. Despite its seclusion, The Tower is conveniently located just 10 minutes from Junctions 29, 29a, and 30 of the M1, on the edge of the picturesque Peak District and the sprawling Sherwood Forest.

Accommodation:

Step into the ground floor, where you'll find a separate kitchen and living room. The kitchen is equipped with modern amenities, including an oven, microwave, induction hob, fridge with ice box, and a full-size dishwasher accentuated with exquisite concrete worktops and original neon light.

Thanks to the innovative glass ceiling design, enjoy the stunning water effects from the shower above. The living area, featuring an L-shaped seating arrangement, a fold-away table, and chairs, provides flexible accommodation. Warm up by the log burner (wood provided free of charge) while enjoying a show on the TV or surfing the web with free WiFi.

Ascend to the second floor to find a king-size bed draped with a feather duvet, a chic hanging bubble chair from the 70s, and contemporary lighting. A Cor-Ten steel divider separates the bathroom and bedroom area, where you'll find a concrete sink, toilet, heated towel rail, and a rainfall shower with a glass floor! The conversion retains its original Brutalist aesthetic, with elements of the original Water Works incorporated into the design.

Please note that while there's no designated outside eating area currently, there's ample space to soak in the sun and the surrounding scenery. An outdoor area is planned for later this year. Also, rest assured there is plenty of off-road parking secured behind a remote-controlled gate right outside The Tower.

Home truths:

Please be aware that The Tower is unsuitable for guests with limited mobility, young children, babies, or pets. We also recommend smaller suitcases due to the narrow spiral staircase. In addition, the primary heating source is a log burner, requiring fire-lighting skills. Still, we are always on hand to assist, and firewood is provided free of charge.

The Tower offers a getaway like no other - a blend of raw authenticity and luxury, enveloped in tranquillity and stunning natural beauty.
